How long does the gold bonding last?
My 14K bonding is ~100× thicker than standard plating, so it’s far more durable. Lifespan depends on body chemistry, how hard you wear it, and exposure to chlorine, salt water, perfumes and cleaners. With normal care expect 1–3 years or longer before any wear shows — often much longer if worn occasionally and maintained. And when it does wear, I can re-bond it.
Why isn’t it stamped 14K?
Because it isn’t solid 14K gold, and we believe in being fully transparent. These are high-quality gold-bonded chains over solid .999 silver. The bonding is durable enough that some say it could pass a scratch test — but passing a test doesn’t make it solid 14K. We sell with integrity and won’t mislead anyone.
Can it be re-bonded later?
Yes. Re-bonding is $2 per gram of the piece. If you want it looking brand new, we recommend a refurbish first ($100) — that removes scratches and surface wear before the fresh gold layer goes on. Bonding alone adds gold; it won’t hide scratches. Send us the weight and we’ll estimate the total.

Will it tarnish?

Yes — real silver can naturally tarnish over time, and that's how you know it's REAL silver and not plated. How fast varies with skin pH, sweat, humidity, lotions and environment. It's only surface-level and fully reversible — a quick polish restores the shine in minutes, and you get free lifetime ultrasonic cleaning. We recommend the Precious Metals Polish to slow tarnishing at home.
